Bank Supervision Officer

Job Description


Monitoring risks associated with the financial institution portfolio according to the requirements set in the regulations and instructions. The successful candidate will have the following functions and responsibilities. Other duties include the following:

  • receive and assess financial or non-financial reports of financial institutions submitted to the BCTL.

  • use the software applications available at BCTL to calculate ratios and indexes.

  • review and analyse banks and financial institutions reports to determine their compliance with the prudential requirement and to evaluate performance, evolution, management, etc. and preparing periodical reports to Head of Financial System Department (DFSS).

  • participate in regular or special on-site examinations of financial institutions with the objective of determining whether the institutions have been complying with all the pertinent banking laws and regulations and that its affairs are being conducted in a safe and sound manner and prepare examination report of findings to Head of DFSS.

  • assist the Division of Licensing and Regulation (DLR) in reviewing business plan presented to BCTL in the license applications and provide result of review to Manager of DLR, if requested.

  • conduct follow up on-site examination of financial institution to determine whether previous recommendations made or corrective measures being suggested by the BCTL have been implemented.

  • checking compliance by banks/financial institutions with laws and regulations and propose the imposition of sanctions in the events of non-compliance.

  • prepare letters and reports related to the above duties.

  • performing other tasks assigned by the Head of DFSS or by other Manager as he/she may indicated. Review and process unpaid or pending accounts.


The candidate should have a degree in accounting, finance, management, economics, law or other related field. The candidate must have excellent spoken and written in Portuguese and/or English as well as excellent in Microsoft Word and Excel as a condition.

The candidate should have good interpersonal skills with strong moral character and has good analytical skills.

Manager, Division of Banking Supervision

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree or Higher

Minimum $ 522/mo during the probationary period.
